Part 2 LMP - Adventure the First (or why would you trust a goblin?)

As we return to our adventurers we find that they have successfully captured one of the goblins that ambushed them on the road.

Solimon is the only one of the group to speak goblin and offers to translate for them. "Why did you attack us?" Harold asks, the goblin replies, "Because you look like tasty treats and we need more supplies for our hideout." As this questioning goes on Ironvox returns to the remains of the horses and looks for clues, the only thing of interest he finds is an empty map case strewn among the other rubbish on the road. He can tell that the riders were not killed, at least not here, and returns to the group to relay the information.

The questioning has continued and Harold seems to be having a difficult time getting any information out of the captive goblin. Ander reaches into his coin pouch and pulls out some gold, offering it while he has Solimon translate "How about some gold for some information?" The goblin agrees, Ander hands over half of the gold that he was holding and relates that the other amount will be given when they reach the goblin's hideout. "Fine, I will show you to the Cragmaw hideout." Before leaving, the party drives the wagon into the woods and disguises it with brush. Ironvox volunteers to stay near the wagon while the others scout out the hideout.

With Harold in the lead, the goblin and Ander walking side-by-side, and Solimon bringing up the rear, the party heads off into the woods in search of the Cragmaw hideout. About 20 minuets into their uneventful journey Ander discovers a snare trap on the road, he walks over it without saying anything to see if the goblin will reveal its presence, he does not and Ander points to the ground and exclaims "There is a trap here! Be wary as this goblin did not try to warn us!" Ander take a look at the goblin and reminds him of the bounty of gold that he will receive if they reach the cave successfully.

Meanwhile Ironvox has decided to move the goblin corpses off of the road and into the woods, in doing so he finds that the goblins have filled their teeth into points and that one of them had a nice golden tooth. Pocketing this he remarks upon the fine craftsmanship that he would not expect to see from the likes of goblins. Unfortunately there is nothing else of note among them and he settles in for a nice relaxing wait upon the other members of his party to return.

The other members have walked about another 30 minuets and come upon a pit trap! The goblin once again fails to notify them and after Harold has climbed out of it the goblin remarks that he would not have been disappointed at the idea of receiving the rest of his gold off of their dead bodies. Harold exclaims, "If there is one more trap, that you fail to tell us about there will be less gold in your future and more steel!"

The goblin seems to be shaken by this exclamation and meekly follows them down the path. This path end another 10 minuets into a medium sized field. Not far in the distance is a river with a large corpse of thickets and brambles next to the water and up stream they see a cave. The adventures spread out a little with Ander making his way stealthily behind the goblin. Solimon translates the words of Harold, "So where is this hideout? And where are the travelers that you ambushed on the road?" The goblin replies, "Our hideout is there in the cave, many Cragmaws are there, soon they will taste of your flesh. The Dwarf that we captured was sent to Cragmaw Castle by order of the King, King Grol! Klarg kept the human and sent him to the eating cave." The adventures take a moment to process this information and then ask, "Were they still alive?" The goblin replies, "They were the last time I saw them, but we goblins are a hungry people." As the goblin finishes uttering this phrase Ander slides his blade in-between the goblin's ribs and pierces his heart, "Close your eyes and embrace your darkness" Anders whispers and lets the goblin fall to the ground.

As the adventurer's take a look at each other and open their mouths to start to formulate a plan an arrow flies from the thicket across the river and a goblin rushes out with his scimitar drawn. The goblin narrowly misses his target as he strikes at Ander as Ander jumps back and behind his friends. Harold steps forward and takes the fight to the goblin, swinging his mighty war-ax, biting deep but leaving the goblin still standing. Solimon throws out a ray of frost towards the goblin in the thicket, there is no sound of an impact, the goblin was missed. Ander darts forward and slices at the goblin, finishing the job that Harold started. Seeing his comrade fall, the other goblin looses another arrow, hitting Harold and runs off towards the cave, presumably to call for reinforcements. Harold jumps the small river (certainly not wishing to dirty his fine clothes or pristinely polished chain-mail) and slashes into the brush, hoping to catch the goblin as he flees. Success! The gods of fortune are with Harrold and the blow lands, but unfortunately the goblin is still on the run, Solimon catches a glimpse of the goblin as he flees and throws out another ray of frost, hitting the goblin and sending him to the grave.

The mighty heroes take a moment to check the bodies for loot (and find that these goblins are as poor as they are ugly) and then unceremoniously dump them all into the river to be washed downstream and become another's problem. They come around the brush that the goblins har bust through and see a small campsite, presumably used as a look out for their cave, looking upriver into the cave they see that there is a small path to the right of the river and they decide that it would be a good time to send for Ironvox and then move onward to hopefully rescuing Sildar and discovering the whereabouts of Gundren. With that Ander sets off down the road as Harold and Solimon make a short beak in the goblins makeshift camp.

To be continued in Part 3 LMP - Adventure the First (or a wolf hunk is a terrible thing to waste)
